;
In times of darkness, the God and goddesses have taken different forms to revive light. One such esteemed manifestation of the Goddess is Maa Kamalatmika. She is the one who bestows the highest state of abundance, fortune and consciousness. Let's begin with Devi Kamala’s powerful dhyana shloka:
Kamalatmika Dhyana Shloka
I revere the goddess who resides on the lotus; the soul of all lotuses has the radiance of molten gold. Four elephants resembling Himalayas bathe her with golden pitchers of nectar. She holds two lotuses in her hands and bestows blessings and courage. Draped with silken garments, she glows bright with her crown.
"सर्वरूपमयी देवी सर्वं देवीमयं जगत। अतोऽहम् विश्वरूपा त्वां नमामि परमेश्वरी।”
Oh divine goddess, you are in all forms; the whole world is the form of power.
Goddess Kamala, also known as Kamalaitka, is the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. Devotees worship the tantrik form of Lakshmi as Kamaltmika, seeking earthly wealth, money, prosperity, and, most importantly, spiritual enlightenment. She is also considered the companion and divine power of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu depicts creative and balancing force, while Devi symbolises purity, wealth, and spiritual awakening.
This year, Kamala Jayanti is observed on the new moon day of the Hindu calendar month Ashwin (as per amanta system, Kartik maas as per purnimanta), on Monday, October 20, 2025.
According to shastras and puranas, Mahavidya refers to the ten divine forms of Shakti; they are the facets of Maa Shakti’s ten tantrik swaroopas. Devotees practise their sadhana to attain all sorts of powers. Kamalatmika is the last swaroopa of shakti, representing Goddess Lakshmi, bestowing devotees with prosperity, wealth, and contentment.
Devi Bhagwatpurana, also known as Devi Gita, indicates that these Mahavidyas were manifested by Adi Shakti in different circumstances for higher purposes. The ten Mahavidyas represent the fierce, spiritual, tantric, and pure forms of the goddess. There is a specified yantra and mantra for each devi. Devotees do sadhana through various mediums, and rituals to fulfil their wishes.
Kamala Jayanti is observed alongside Diwali. Devotees invoke Goddess Kamla’s blessings through vamacharya, i.e., the tantric path for spiritual growth, financial success, and wealth. On this day, performing pooja during muhurata is considered auspicious.

Here are the timings of Kamala Jayanti as per the Drik Panchang:
Kamala Jayanti is on Monday, October 20, 2025
According to Vedic astrology, worshipping Goddess Kamala is linked to the planet Shukra, signifying wealth, material possession, success, and luxury. Someone with an afflicted Venus in their birth chart can worship Goddess Kamala to remove financial hurdles.

The key elements of the iconography of Devi Kamala are as follows:
According to Hindu mythology, once Rishi Durvasha gifted a garland of flowers to Indradev. Lord Indra carelessly placed the garland on Airvata, his elephant, who threw it on the ground.. Feeling insulted by the garland's fall, Rishi Durvasa cursed Indradev, declaring that heaven would collapse and lose its eminence. Thereafter, Maa Lakshmi, the goddess of radiance and divine prosperity left heaven and disappeared into the Kshirsagara (cosmic ocean).
Due to the absence of Goddess Lakshmi, heaven gradually started losing its dominance and started caving in. The divine side started feeling weak. Meanwhile, Asura king Bali seized the opportunity, attacked heaven & sought control over it.
Indra Dev and other gods then approached Lord Vishnu, who ordered the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) to bring peace between the gods and asuras. As the churning process was going on, goddess Lakshmi emerged in the form of Kamalatmika, where Lord Vishnu offered to marry her, and then she finally returned to Vaikuntha (heaven).
Goddess Kamala is revered as the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Worshipping her brings wealth, luck, and wellness. However , finding contentment in life is much more essential than just material abundance. Worship of Maa Kamala plays a significant role in the spiritual enlightenment of the devotees through various ways like Mantra Jap, Dhyaan over Maa Kamalatimka, fasting and Puja.
