A Brahmin by birth, yet a Kshatriya by karma. A destroyer of arrogance, a restorer of dharma. The one who shook the earth 21 times and annihilated all the wicked kings, carrying the divine essence of Vishnu and the blazing fury of Shiva
The one who stands beyond fear, beyond time itself…
In an age of chaos, when arrogance ruled and dharma faded…
A warrior rose with divine purpose and unmatched fury: Parashurama, the fearless avatar of Lord Vishnu, who came to destroy evil and restore dharma.
Let's honour him with this powerful mantra:
ॐ जामदग्न्याय विद्महे महावीराय धीमहि। तन्नो परशुराम: प्रचोदयात्।।
Om Jaamadagnyaay Vidmahe Mahaaveeraya Dheemahi | Tann: Parashuraam: Prachodayaat. ||
Meaning: Let us meditate on the son of Jamadagni. Oh, great warrior, give me higher intellect, and let Lord Parashurama illuminate my mind.
Lord Parashurama is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, also known as Rama with an axe. He was born in the Treta Yuga to sage Jamadagni and Devi Renuka. According to Vedic text, Parashurama is considered one of the eight Chiranjeevis and the destroyer of evil on earth. He is known for having the wisdom of a Brahmin and the strength of a Kshatriya.
According to Hindu texts, he was guru to Dronacharya, Bhishma Pitamah, Karna, and King Rukmi.
Parashurama Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Lord Parashurama. It falls on the Akshaya Tritiya tithi during the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaisakha (April to May). Lord Parashurama is also regarded as the ancestor of several Brahmin communities, including Chitpavan, Niyogi, Bhumihar, Anavil, etc. For these communities, Parashurama Jayanti is a celebration of their heritage, lineage and traditions.
On this day devotees perform prayers, worship, havans, bhajans, Shobha yatras and kalas yatras to seek the blessings of Lord Parsurama.
Parashurama, born to the revered sage Jamadagni and his wife Renuka, was destined from birth to fulfill divine purpose. Renuka was associated with Kshatriya lineage, while Jamadagni carried the profound wisdom of brahmin tradition.
Parashurama was born in the Bhrigu lineage. His great grandfather, Rishi Richika, once prepared two sacred offerings (kheer). One was intended to bestow the calm wisdom of a Brahmin, while the other was meant to ingrain the strength and power of Kshatriya.
However, the offerings were mistakenly exchanged. As a result, Vishvamitra was born, who later became a great sage, despite being born in the Kshatriya family. while Parashurama was born in the Bhrigu lineage, inheriting the wisdom of a Brahmin along with the courage and power of a Kshatriya.
According to Drik Panchang, this year Parashurama Jayanti will be observed on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Auspicious timings are:

Ekktaa highlights a profound perspective on the occasion of Parashurama Jayanti: the concept of Atmakaraka and its association with Lord Parashurama to enlighten spiritual seekers.
The Atmakaraka (AK) is the planet that is at the highest point in a birth chart in Jyotish. It is thought to show the soul's deepest purpose in this life. When Venus is the Atmakaraka, Vedic astrology (as per sage Parashara) links this to the Parashurama Avatar. He says that people with Venus AK need to learn how to avoid overindulgence and actions driven by desire. They need to learn how to balance worldly pleasures with spiritual discipline.
Lord Parashurama is linked to Venus and represents the balance between duty and desire. He is both a warrior and a wise sage, and he teaches the importance of using one's skills and resources for good. So, someone with Venus as Atmakaraka is on a journey like Parashurama's – they have gifts of beauty, creativity, and abundance, but they are called to use all of those things for dharmic purposes instead of for their own pleasure.
Lord Parashurama is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, popularly known as a sage with a warrior-like spirit.
In 2026, Parashurama Jayanti will be celebrated on 19th April.
