Lunar Eclipse - May 15, 2022, to May 16, 2022

We have a full moon on May 15th, 2022 from 12.45 pm till 9.43 am on May 16th, 2022.

The total lunar eclipse will be happening on 16th May at 1 degree of Scorpio. This eclipse isnt visible in India hence one needn’t follow any grahan-related sanskaras.

The first total lunar eclipse of 2022 will also dye the moon red, causing the coveted "Super Flower Blood Moon" phenomenon.

Eclipses generally trigger transformation and involve a lot of changes. I would rather say unfinished business/tasks may rise to the surface.

What is Lunar Eclipse?

Lunar Eclipse is a celestial phenomenon where the moon moves into the Earths shadow. In simpler words, the Earth aligns itself in a way that it blocks the sunlight, creating a shadow on the lunar surface.

The phenomenon happens when the Sun, Earth and the Moon are in syzygy (where they are exactly or very closely aligned), with the Earth placed right between the other two. The event happens on full moon night when the moon is categorically near the lunar node.

Generally, the duration or length of the lunar eclipse depends on the Moons proximity to the lunar node.

What is a Blood Moon?

The Blood moon depicts the moons stark reddish appearance during a Lunar eclipse. The same happens in a total eclipse where the moon takes on a bright reddish hue from the filtered and refracted sunlight by the Earth’s atmosphere.

The phenomenon is a lot similar to why we notice reddish and orangish colors in the sky during sunlight and sunset. This instance is generally known as the Rayleigh scattering of the blue light, leaving the blood moon appearance. It is alternatively known as the Red moon as well.

When is the lunar eclipse taking place?

Lunar Eclipse - 16th May: 4.11 (UTC)

Start time. : 2.27 am (UTC) 7.02am (IST)

Maximum : 4.11 am(UTC) 9.41am (IST)

End of eclipse : 5.55am (UTC) 12.20am (IST)

Note: The Moon is below the horizon during this eclipse, so it is not possible to view it in Pune.

Regions seeing, at least, some parts of the eclipse:

South/West Europe, South/West Asia, Africa, Much of North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Antarctica.

Whats happening in the sky during the eclipse?

When the eclipse begins, the moon is at 29 degrees Libra in Vishakha, 3rd pada and at the maximum point of the eclipse, the moon enters Scorpio and is at 1 degree in Vishakha pada 4th.

Sun would enter Taurus on 15th May at @5.44 am.

How is this eclipse going to impact us?

This is a very interesting eclipse as it happens at 1 degree Scorpio. We can consider this to be an ending of events that were triggered from the past 18 months of Rahu-Ketu transit in the Taurus-Scorpio axis. Unexpected events, all hidden agendas may be revealed.

If one has Planets placed in Vishakha 3rd and 4th pada, then they are expected to experience some life-altering or tangible events around that time.

We have been experiencing tight conjunction of Rahu &Sun since the 11th of May since Sun entered Krittika nakshatra. This is a most uncomfortable period and will last until a weeks’ time.

The lunar eclipse is going to happen during the full moon. And, since the moon rules our minds, and it will be in the sign of Scorpio on the day of maximum eclipse, most of us are going to experience extremely volatile energy. Scorpio is the sign where the moon gets debilitated.

So, for a few days before and after the eclipse, avoid taking decisions on important matters, especially on a whim, since they can cause a future catastrophe.

The mind will remain unsettled, alongside the lingering ideas. People are also likely to experience strange energy filled with a lot of chaos and revelations. The eclipse is going to be intense as it will be ending the Taurus-Scorpio energy until Ketu enters Taurus, roughly around 9 years.

Lunar eclipse effects are immediate as the results are out in a max week or a monthstime.

One may have experienced the volatile energy around 12th or 13th May onwards as the moon has entered Virgo on 12th May and dominated by both Mars and Jupiter, hence a mixed bag of emotions.

At the same time, Mercury, which is the ruler of the Virgo sign, is retrograde in Taurus and is aspected by Mars, so now isnt an ideal time to sign documents. Additionally, ensure to pay extra attention while handling your data, and confirm that the systems have an appropriate backup of your data.

On 14th May, the moon enters Libra and will be slowly conjoining Ketu on 15th May, Sunday at 15.35, when it enters Vishakha pada 1. Moon &Ketu's energy leads to a lot of detachment and a feeling of being lost, a feeling of respite of not belonging where you are.

And the volatility in the stock market continues.

We all would get impacted in some or the other way, be alert and hang in there.

Remedy: Meditation/Chanting (Namasmaran) is considered best to handle the lunar eclipse energy.

Time to reflect, look within and understand this is just a temporary phenomenon.

The good news is that the Sun will enter Taurus and will be out of the difficult zone of Sun-Rahu energy.

If your birthday falls anywhere from the 12th to the 17th of May, then it may be a good time to make some donations.

If you have major planets in Krittika nakshatra pada 1 and Vishakha pada 3 and 4, then you need to be a little cautious.

Kindly note: The above information is based on general reading and may not resonate with everyone! My observations are based on Sidereal Vedic Astrology. The impact varies from each individual as it depends on the Mahadasha (MD), Antar Dasha (AD), and Pratyantar Dasha (PD) one is running. If an individual is running Rahu, Ketu, Sun, Moon MD/AD/PD, then you are likely to feel the energy of eclipses more in comparison to others.

Other important info: On 23rd May, Venus enters Aries and Rahu is placed there.

**Will try to address how Rahu-Venus may impact us and cautions too.

Mercury turned retrograde on 10th May and will be in Taurus until 2nd July. This one is a little notorious. Mercury will be under combustion and retrograde on the 23rd of May which may create a lot of confusion, chaos, communication-related matters may be problematic, and one may have to redo things.

Key Points to Consider:

The lunar eclipse may stir volatility, so avoid taking rash and uninformed decisions.

The period could introduce a barrage of unexpected events as this is the last eclipse on Taurus and Scorpio axis

There are possibilities of natural calamities like earthquakes, heavy rainfall, tsunami and risks of fire events It is the full moon, your mind may be filled with chaotic energy, a good time to reflect and meditate on your thoughts.

Either avoid or be extremely vigilant while signing new documentation.

This is a temporary phenomenon, so all the events will eventually tide over.
